Power steering fluid vs. ATF

No, I didn't just get out of jail but I sure made it sound like it!  I
bought the car off a friend who was the original owner.  He bought it
new in '87 and drove it till '96.  He needed to replace the exhaust but
did not have the cash, so his plan was to put it off for one year. The
next year he still did not have the funds to fix it so it sat.  It sat
in his garage for 10 years!  I bugged him a couple times a year to sell
it to me (for the last 10 years).  I finally convinced him to sell the
car to me last September.  So, I have a somewhat preserved '87 Scirocco
16V with only 73K kilometres (45K miles).   There is a pic at...

As for the power steering fluid, I will probably go with the special
fluid (made by Pentosin) and I will flush the system first as
recommended by David Utley.
