My reference to the chassis was not particularly the frame that the car is
made of, but rather the systems that were used for each series.  In other
words his not hearing the fuel pump prime until he turns the key on his A1
and A2 chassis cars should not be expected to be the same on the A4 chassis
fuel injected cars.  

I was not implying that the diesel cars were the same (duh, they use no
gasoline) as the fuel injected cars. Maybe I should have been clearer. Lori
says I leave out step when explaining things to her as well.  I just assume
that some things are commonly understood.

Oh, I'm well aware of that feature on some TDIs, my point was that not all
A4s make the whirring noise, but if it was chassis rather than motor
related, mine would make that noise.
