Timing the cam - what about the intermediate shaft tocrankshaft?



By lining the mark on the crank pulley with the one on the intermediate
shaft, you can get the crank to TDC...that's why they put it there.  It also
helps get the ignition timing back into place if you're just changing the
timing belt (assuming it was correct in the 1st place).  It ensures that the
crank and distributor are in the same relative positions.

It's more accurate to use the mark on the flywheel, of course, to get the
motor to TDC.
