Brake confusion

Blue,

I think you need to have the pistons up against the calipers before the ER brake can clamp them in place. Put some fluid in and pump the brakes until they start to work, then try the ER brakes again. Remember not to pump the pedal too far down unless you have a brand new master cylinder - as you can hurt the seal in the M/C if it travels over surfaces it doesn't usually travel on and they are dirty, etc.

Sorry I'm not there to stand on my head and help you. I fit pretty well in a Scirocco upside-down.

Actually, I'm in Steubenville, OH this evening. Close to Mecca and my old home in Pittsburgh. Sadly I don't have time to visit either before I flap my wings back to Tyler tomorrow.

Brian

I've always just popped the ass end up on some jackstands, one click on the
handle - wheel should turn freely, the same as when the handle's released.
Two clicks- there should be some resistance, three clicks, you should't be
able to turn the wheel at all (which will enable that smoky, slick warming
burnout you're secretly desiring, oh, did I say that out loud?). I expect the caliper pistons need to be gently helped into place by
setting them with gentle pedal pressure first.
Cathy, one beer down, more to go...

5:00 pm 02/03/07 <sukchew@suddenlink.net> wrote:
> It's not snowing ,raining, stormy, excessively cold or any of that
> bad stuff.I'm frantically working on the brake conversion.I have the
> rear Calipers on the hand, brake cables installed but I don't under
> stand
