Dont shoot me! How much oil to add?

  See the thing about this is the thermo plate. Once the set up is in place and I do the oil change I will fill it up as ussual, but it will NOT be untill I reach operating temperature that I will get an accurate reading of how much extra to add.
   
  Everyone agree with that? My fear is that when the thermo plate opens then there will not be enough oil in the engine producing low pressure.
