OT: TDI tranny

It may or may not be this, but on mine, at one point I could use any gear
as long as it as 2nd or 4rth. The gears in the "upper" part of the shift
pattern were not accessible (R-1-3-5). Luckily I parked nose into a spot
that I could roll backwards out of or I'd have been pushing her heavy ass.
Anyway, there's a plastic lever on the gearbox end that fractures and
eventually snaps (if it's abaout the same vintage as my 99). Yours may be
fractured, so check it. It's a quick fix if that's all it is. But plastic,
how cheesy is that?
