OT: PC speaker issues.

Lately, I've been getting some static from my right channel. For a
while it was negligable and it came and went. Currently, it's been
getting really bad and the right channel has been going out entirely.
I thought it was a speaker issue as I had the same problem years ago.
I switched my speakers with the old system and got same problem. I
assumed it was speakers as these were the ones I originally had the
problem with way back when.

So I got a new set. Same problem as soon as I plug them in. Hmmm,
maybe it's the KVM switch? So I bypass that and plug directly into
the sound output on back of computer. Same problem. In fact, when
it's not plugged in, I can hear the static coming out of the speaker
in the computer.

Bad sound card? A friend mentioned something about a virus doing
this. Seems odd tho since I'm having the same problem that I had 8 or
9 years ago. I never solved it then, just dealt with it as I figured
the speakers were going south (plus, at one point I kind of messed
them up myself). Different computer, different speakers, same
problem.
