OT: Other cars...anyone driven these?

Too true Dan, but the TT does have one big advantage, lower center of
gravity since there is less of it... :-)

Bear in mind, while everybody gets all wiggly in their shorts about the
upcoming Scirocco (and the current R32), that they're really the same
chassis as the TT with a different body.
Hard to slam the TT too much in that context.

<honorable mention: audi tt. too slow, too girly. but almost a vw.>

IMHO the Audi TT deserves a whole lot more than just honorable mention. Too
slow? Indeed, the 180 is underpowered. But the 225 (1.8T) or the 250 (3.2)
are sufficiently powered and very spirited from a driveability perspective.
The overall design of the TT was cutting edge, critically acclaimedm and is
destined to become a classic. The coupe is absolutely gorgeous. If that
constitutes "girly", so be it.

Finally, the TT, from a historical design perspective, is very similar to
the Mk1 Scirocco in terms of its emergence onto the automotive scene.
