Chopped Top Roccs?

Grant,

Where do you live? I'm sure it must be far from Texas because no one who wants to undertake the stupid projects I would love live anywhere near Texas. I recall a chopped SII in a picture from germany as well. It looked awesome.

Lowering the windshield below the hood works more easily on modern cars who have no fixed panel visible between the hood and the windshield (i.e. 95% of cars less than 10 years old). I know a guy who used to cut windshields at his glass shop and he told me all about it. He said it isn't hard, and it didn't sound like it from his description, but he says whether you are novice or pro you will break a certain percentage of them that you try. Still, it would be way easier than lowering that header panel at the windshield's base. Unless maybe you could slope the windshield down and move the A-pillars forward to get rid of that panel all together. Still much harder than cutting the glass, I think.

Tailgate idea sounds fun, too. I've got some good rear MK1 sheetmetal that is going in the dumpster about the time I get back from Cincy, BTW. If anyone wants to pay me for my time to cut it out I'll bring it to Cincy. It would be pretty easy to make a "pass-through" area between the lights and below the hatch's latch, wouldn't it?

Oh, and Julie, don't worry about him tearing up a MK1. You can just undo his work and return it to its original condition when he is done with the car. <twists knife in Julie's wounds, then runs away> :)
