Wipers activated means fuel pump engaging??

Well, even on an unmolested/non-leaking MkI I'd suspect electrical, I don't
think the various plugs and the insulation itself are that reliable at this
point. You may just have something finding the lazy path to ground. having
said that, out I go to figure out why mine won't start...I know it'll be
wiring.
