Scirocco-l Digest, Vol 16, Issue 68

The oil pressure gauge takeoff should either be on the top of the filter
bracket or on the driver's side of the head. There are different filter
brackets depending on year that either have one or, I think, up to three
threaded ports on top. The 8V head only had one port on the end and that is
the oil gallery, the 16V head has a bunch so make sure your plugging into
the oil gallery.
As far as the water temp it's best to screw it into one of the ports on the
water outlet pipe if it's an 8V. With a 16V, again, one of the ports on the
driver's side of the head.
