OMG! It's not the heat, well...

Buying a new car at a far distant dealership and making a road trip out of
it is looking like a better and better idea each day I think about it! If
only VW did European delivery!

The road from Whitehorse back to civilization is 99.9% paved and goes
through Dawson Creek. If you are going to go that far up you might as well
stop in Alaska! Dawson (not creek) on the other hand is much more far up and
is definitely not a place to pickup a VW. Yellowknife has just about no
paved roads until just before Fort Nelson, BC. Imagine 990 km of unpaved
roads! :-)

Keep in mind the size of these towns! Dawson only has a population of 2,000,
the Whitehorse metro region only has 21,000 people, and Yellowknife only
19,000. There is very little chance that there is a VW dealership in any of
these towns, and a quick Google proves this.

For me to buy a new VW in Alaska is more likely, there is a VW dealership in
Anchorage and one in Juneau (but no roads out of Juneau!).

And I've been looking at maps of our far Northern Territories for another
possible road trip (Whitehorse looks to have better roads than Dawson City,
those are the two options) THAT was an AWESOME plan.... I gotta go set up a
savings account....:) Cathy
