Somewhat OT but interesting: quantitative analysis of drivinghabits and their effect on fuel economy

I got up to 36 MPG in the stock 8v Cali on the Alaska trip when I was on mostly flat rural 55 MPH roads doing about 60 MPH in 5th gear the whole time. Interstates with 75 MPH limits and corresponding 70 to 75 MPH speeds ate up gas down near 30 MPG. :-(

The combination of ?high? (I put that in quotes to respect the non-US listers) gas prices and the need for longer then average range due to sparse gas stations made me drive much slower then I usually would! Couple this with over $1350 spent on gas in under 3 weeks and just about all of us would change our driving habits!

I got 32 MPG coming back from Cincy running boost up all the hills and maintaining as much speed as I thought I could get away with. That's good enough for me.
