G60 swap questions

The broken 020's that I've seen mostly start with a broken 5th gear. The spline on the pinion shaft is small and, I guess, over time considering the axial load caused by the helical gear cut, the gear wobbles on the shaft until the splines are not a very tight fit anymore. Then the tooth loading becomes too high and teeth start breaking off. More of a fatigue issue than a strength issue in most cases.
So, it's important if you're rebuilding a gearbox to make sure 5th is a tight fit.
Other than that I don't know where the weak points are in the 020 for the really high HP guys. Any input from anyone?

Also, bear in mind that there are about $125-$200 worth of gaskets, seals, bearings, bushings and synchro rings that ought to be replaced any time you rebuild an 020.

And lastly, if you should break something in your tranny pull over and stop and get the car towed. Broken bits will get caught in the other gears and break off their teeth also.
