G60 swap questions

I echo Neals' ideas. One thing I know for sure about the 02A, while
capable, like the 020, it has a two-synchro 2nd gear, and they are MORE than
apt about failing, and therefore of course crunching when shifting. German
Transaxle said there was not really a way to improve this, and that was
another reason why they touted the 020 as a better choice...

who have fabricated custom mounts, if you wish to give it a try, or maybe
someone would make/sell you a set. As for the shifter, you would need to
come up with a way of mounting the cable shifter mechanism in the car.
Again, it has been done, but there aren't any simple bolt-ons to help you.
The clutch can be converted to cable operation using some parts from a
European Passat...but those parts are supposedly even becomming hard to find
in Europe. People have converted the pedal cluster to use a hydro clutch,
but again you're in the custom fabrication zone.

more power than the 020. There are definitely more/better 020 ratios
available, as well as cheaper junkyard replacements. I'd keep the 020 (and
that's just what I did). But yes, you can install an 02A if you just feel
like you have to.

have revised by purchase plan after talking to the seller last night. Turns
out the seller has 2 rabbits with G60 swaps and knows people at Bahn Brenner
personally. He say he drove the BBM red Corrado at last years Waterwagens
event. Which when I asked him if he had any proof that the g-ladder had
been rebuilt he said he talked to someone at BBM and they confirmed it to
him. He could be blowing smoke up my ass but so far I have a good feeling
about him.

and piping, ignition, 02A tranny and shift linkage. Hope to pick it up on
Sunday.

a MK1 frame? Do I need the ones that come with it or will I swap out for a
standard 020 5 speed mount. Any other tricks for this tranny swap? Is the
cable shift mechanism a semi easy swap using the Corrado pieces or do I need
to source some other parts? If the 02A is a better tranny for a hopefully
200hp motor (after future modifications) I will definitely like to use it.
Looks like there is a kit shown half way down the page on the link below for
$400 but it looks like it includes a clutch and starter which I will already
have.

over to the larger axle and hub setup. Will the axles and hubs swap from
the Corrado into a Scirocco? That would be too easy if they did :)
