drove a 2001 jetta 1.8T today...

Ok, ok.

I definately recommend the Garrett (GIAC) chip, or flash. I just put TT 268 sport cams, new valve springs, TT exhaust w/Borla on my mk4 GTI VR but I had to get the Garrett to help the cams(felt like there was a HEMI under the hood) I lost the low end torque.

I don't know what my hp/tq numbers are right now but OMG. The torque steer I have now will snap my your wrist if you're not carefull.

RPM's govern now at 8000, emergency fuel cut-off is somewhere after 150mph, if there is one.

But it's like night and day now. I couldn't be happier.

I took mine to Dubwerks here in the Chicago area for the GIAC 268 Flash(you keep the stock chip, they just re-map it) but hopefully I'll be getting the flash loader pad so I can switch between "kicking ass" and "good gas mileage".

Chipping a 1.8t will bring you up to 200hp if that helps.
