starting points for jetta problems
I used a spray bottle, turned the nozzle to mist, and waited til it was dark out, you'll see arcing where it's bad.

Another way to find ignition leaks is to inspect it at night and while
the humidity is up. Just look under the hood for the light show.

Thanks for the offer Rick. I've got a 8v sitting in my drive way and I

going to swap the dizzy cap out a month or so ago and I discovered they
are
different. One has a little pin sticking up under the caps and the
other
has the holes that the wires slide into. Which does yours have at the
dizzy?
I also got some exhaust patch tape. Gonna fix that nasty hole so I
don't
have a headache all day like today after having my head under the
hood!!!
Guess it will all have to wait until my next days off tuesday and
wednesday.
Until then everyone speculation as to what it might be is welcome.
It's back to driving the Gas Hog Blazer for a week. 8-( and prices are
looking to be around $3 here this week
I hear it's around $3.75 in CA is that right?
