OK, obviously you mention Romantic and kids. I take it
the kids are staying at home this trip?

It'll affect the Bell Curve of choices depending on
your traveling demographic, but the Bay Area is a
family friendly place nonetheless.

- Obviously you should Google the local Tourist Board
web sites, the picture opportunities will be easy to
incorporate into your schedule that way. (For example,
There is a 49 Mile Scenic Drive:

&
<http://www.theinsider.com/SF/Attractions/49miledrive.htm>)

There is a Tech Museum in San Jose
<http://www.thetech.org> the kids will undoubtedly
like, as would they enjoy 'the Exploratorium' in San
Fran <http://www.exploratorium.edu> and the Chabot
Observatory in the Oakland Hills;

You can do some Walking Tours of San Francisco, these
are a wonderful way to either self-guide or enjoy a
tour up close with some narration to obtained that
hands on experience.

There are the Cable Cars to ride, one of the routes
takes you from Market st past Union Square and out to
Fisherman's Warf and the Cannery/ Ghirardelli Square.
It dead-ends right across the street from the Buena
Vista; where Irish Coffee was rumored to have been 1st
introduced to North America.
(Tullamore-Dew-it's-light-and-smooth).

We have a number of Zoos in the region, the one in SF
is at the Western edge of Golden Gate Park & bucks up
close to the Pacific.

Right on the edge of the continent is the Cliff House
as well as The Beach Chalet <http://beachchalet.com>.
(I mention the latter because they serve Riptide Red,
one of my favorite beverages.) The view out over the
water is wonderful, but then there might be Fog to
contend with so play it as you go.

I'm finding my quick post has generated legs so I'll
rattle off just a bit more and invite direct inquiries
if you are so inclined;

- SF proper is a Mercurial Weather location. Wearing
shorts in Summer seems a col thing to do but it gets
chilly quick here. Bring a few layers to remain
adaptable.

- Bone up a _little_ on the 'ancient' history of the
City and the area. It makes for a more enjoyable visit
to tie Modern Life into the Barbary Coast era and so
on.

- We are having a Century Celebration (well,
remembrance) of the Great Quake of '06 this month, I
suppose there will still be exhibits and so on in the
local museums to enjoy, seek them out.

- I have taken a general touristy approach so far but
can focus on a more romantic bent as well.

More to be had, just turn the spigot,
TBerk
