head job pt. 2 - cam



I think you should look at the head work, cam and tranny as a unit.  I
say that because I thought you had some kind of 4 speed tranny - I
might be confoused about that.  Anyway, if you have one of those wide
ratio trannies, a mild cam would be better.  I had a hydro head so the
numbers are a little different.  It was a 268 cam - a bit more radical
than a g-grind in a solild head - in a p&p head with a 4k as a daily
driver.  When I got the head, I started with a stock cam.  The change
to 268 gave a little less pull at the very bottom, below 2500rpm, but
it was nice and even from there to fuel cut off.  If I had kept the
car, I was going to put something in a bit peakier and I still think
it would be fine with the 4k.  So, to sum it up, g-grind is fine and I
think you'll like some thing a little bigger than that.
