Philly Salvage yards?

The handful of yards that I have done consulting work for in Philly were
never ever interested in letting people into their yards. Could it be they
have something to hide? ;-)

Most local yards are involved in the industry of the towing of abandoned
cars, storing them for the requisite time and then shredding them. The city
and towns pay the tower very good money to do this and they get to do with
them as they please when the owner can't get the car back due to the
requirement that they be licensed and the car is registered, insured, and
inspected.

A few places pick the parts and sell them to local auto shops, but few are
u-pull-it. Al's in Trevose is probably the largest in the area and the
world's most organized junk yard.

Here are some suggested areas to try:

The area of Torresdale and Frankford in Frankford.

Essington and Passyunk Ave in Southwest Philly. This area is junk yard city!

Aramingo and State Roads up along the river from Bridesburg to Torresdale.

State Road in Bristol and the area between USX and Morrisville.

There's a U-Pull it in Willow Grove, near the turnpike, on RT 611.
At least there used to be...

Are there any good you-pull-it yards around this area that don't murder on
prices?

They were everywhere in denver - But I can't find any around here except
Harry's up in Hazleton - which is about 2 hours from here.
