City Lights

there is no requirement in the US to have amber
parking lights towards the front of the vehicle. 
front parking lights can be clear/white.  mercedes
started that in about '95 with the 'round front' look
to the 'c' class, i think.  the old ford aspire had
parking 'city' lights in the headlamps as well.  now
many foreign cars have this: jaguar, hyundai, etc. 
even the last few years of the golf have the 'normal'
W5W in the highbeam light as the parking light, the 5W
filament in the amber turnsignal is still there,
actually, but the wires to feed current to it are
gone.  
in all my cars here in the US, i always ran the wire
from the former amber parking light to the clear
parking light in the H4 or H1 lights i installed.  no
inspection place ever questioned me about it.  lars
