What's the procedure for title transfer in CA?

When I bought my California Edition in February I just had the seller sign
the title (pink slip in Californiese) and give it to me. That was it and all
was well. It is the state (or providence in your case) that is going to be
the group picky about the paperwork, not the state you bought it from.

The son of the seller of my Cali was an attorney and made me sign a CA DMV
form saying that they no longer have any liability for the car now that it
is sold, but I think that was just him being extra cautious.

Subject: What's the procedure for title transfer in CA?

Hi list,

What are the specifics involved in transfering a vehicle title to a
non-resident of California? I'm looking into getting the 75 I bought from
Noel Browning transported on a hauler to Ohio for Cincy pickup, and need to
know what the proper procedure is to do this. Since I'm not going to be
there, does the previous owner simply have to sign the title over and send
it along with the car? Does it need to be notarized?

Thanks for any help.

Mark.
