RE: Tranny Cleaning

Yep, I have done that aw well. Lacquer thinner is also a pretty good
degreaser (Hey use what you got, right?)

I don't know about the safety issues (or how well it worked), but I
knew a guy years ago who would keep all the nuts and bolts in a big
coffee can and it had about an inch or so of gas in it. He told me he
did this to clean them. Strange I thought.

Paint thinner and purple power are what I use. Purple power is great if

can do it your driveway. Doing it in the sink sucks ;^)
Course I finish it off with a nice bead blasting and that's really the
ticket!
Haven't some people said that purple power eats aluminum or at least
leaves a stain if left on for
too long?

trans case? I'm putting
best in quotes because I am looking for something I can do at home, not
having it dipped in some
acid bath that I might actually have to <gasp> PAY for!. So far I'm
guessing I need to soak the
thing in Purple Power for a while and scrub what I can. Can I use EZ-off
or other oven cleaner on
the alumunum??
