Subject: OT, well non Roc, but VW-Wiper issues....

So my sister's GTI('97 2.0) lost all wiper/wash functions. Blown fuse.
So
to make a long story short I find the culprit is the motor causing this.
I
replace
it today and she only has high speed front wipers and wash front and rear.
No
rear and no intermittent and low front. Also when I switched from high to
low or
off the wipers stop right where they are. Now I've never had wiper
problems on
my cars so I am curious if anyone else has seen this before. I am
thinking it
is probably the switch, but I am curious why both died at once, unless one
caused
the other to die. Any thought on this, anyone?
