Engine stand usage

Hey everyone!  Just picked up an engine stand for the 1.8l.....just wondering how the motor is attached to the stand?  Does it bolt to the block on the flywheel side?  Or does it affix to the belt/pulley side?  I'm so green its sick....but I am slowly getting the motor out of the rocco....jopefully I can have it done before the end of summer!!!!
