Brake light switch

Okay, my MkI has toasted the brake switch/wiring to it on the master
cylinder. I will probably upgrade to the newer arrangement if I can figure
out where the switch is, I have two parts passats to harvest from, but
where is the switch? It's somewhere on the pedal cluster, but I have no
idea what I'm even looking for. I really want to drive this car, but it's
just not letting me, and I'm past my (unusually long) patience with it I'm
afraid. 8Vs are easy my ass.
