OT jetta Q's

Let me add my own version. S.T.F.A or Stay The F%!ck Away.

MK3 auto are large piles of dung. Hanging out at my local vw repair shop
taught me that even a replacement trans from VW itself (NOS) was a pile as
they had to haul 2 of them back to the dealer before the third one actually
worked. Oh and the "special" trans fluid that they are said to require
(maybe Mr. Utley (sp?) can comment about that) it absurdly exspensive per
quart.

Just about every time an MK3 car came to the shop it was due to a shot
tranny and usually at low miles. If it's not leaking from the tranny yet,
it will soon. I've really not heard anything good about a VW auto tranny
ever. All I ever hear is folks bitching because they have to replace them
with every 3rd oil change.
