help with trans id

   i finally finished parting out the '84 that i had (good riddence) but 
am now stumped at the transmission. i was of the belief that it should 
have been a 4k, but when i went to remove it, i was informed it was 
a...a...hell, i don't know. the plate that usually indicate the trans 
code was blank. interestingly enough, it has been reworked as the 90mm 
inner flange seals are new (teal) and the two flat gaskets on the 
tranmission are slightly larger than normal. any ideas on where else i 
might find the code? the previous owner was someone who sold it to an 
uncle of the kid who sold it to me. help would be appreciated. thanx.
