i wouldnt chance it.
i've tested them by running suction/discharge hoses to a gas can.
be sure you secure it somehow, it likes to jump when you apply power.

Is there a way to do any bench tests on a puel pump to see if it is
working before installing into the car?  Will running the pump dry for
a couple of seconds off a 12V source to hear if it still spins damage
it?  TIA
