I appreciate the kind thoughts from you guys.

So many people here have done so much work (and spent so much money)
on their cars battling rust, repairing accident damage, correcting the
POs assorted dubious mods, crawling through boneyards for obscure
parts, etc. I, OTOH (and Dick Wong, I see) just had to plunk down the
money at the VW dealer, live in California, and been lucky enough to
keep the shiny side up for the last 25 or 30 years.

At the Bonelli park GTG in November, a guy looks at my car and says:
"Nice car! - where did you get the PARTS?" I don't know how many
other "original owners" are here, but does a tinge of guilt ever hit
you about answering that question?

And for T Berk.. this is indeed a carburetor. :-)

Well, only diligence keeps your car from being one of those PO nightmares,
I'd say you deserve the "kind thoughts", that preventative little day to
day stuff is what makes the difference. And the car is gorgeous, it made
my New Year's Eve happier looking at it. I aspire to have mine be even
somewhat like it.
