Now: Road trip book. Was: need advice re. purchase.

The book is called "Road trips, Head trips, and other car-crazed
writings"  It's a collection of essays and short storys and such, with
an introduction by P.J. O'Rourke.  Jean (lindamood) Jennings was the
editor.  It was published in 1996.  It's ISBN (international stock
book number) is 0-87113-654-6

I bought the book and then email her, telling her how much I enjoyed
it.  She offered to autograph it for me, if I mailed it to her.  She
did, with said inscription, and also sent a T-shirt!  What fun!

Yes, she has taken over Editor-in-chief for Automobile Magazine. 
David E. Davis has retired to position of Editor-at-large, I think. 
He still writes a column I think.
This was the first car magazine I ever had a subscription to and read
with any regularity, enough to appreciate the personalities of the
writers, and I've always enjoyed JLJ and what she's written.
You probably can't get a copy new anymore, but check all the usual
places for used copies.
I work for a book store, I'll take a look and see if it's available
through the out-of-print warehouse we use sometimes..
