Boxing Day Racing long, with some VW content)

NICE.

Go to TowerHobbies.com for RC crap. I would recommend a model rocket starter for "ignition" purposes. Maybe a tube full of bottle rockets or a roman candle for artillery purposes. Maybe even a battery of "mars missiles"...

I would GUT the bear altogether and put a 14 turn quad modified motor in it, with a 3300mah pack (7.2v) or hell get a Novak Super Rooster and 10 single 3300 cells for a 12v monster. You could pull 90+ amps off that with a drag motor like the one I mentioned above.

I had a Bolink car that ran something like that and I couldn't give it more than 3/4 throttle at ANY speed or it would do INSANE 360's. Also even with the 10 cells in the front of the car it tended to LIFT quite a bit with the lamborghini body.

Good luck. You should video tape it.

OKay, for those not familiar, in Canada we have a holiday called Boxing
day. In my world, it means only one thing, the annual family Christmas
dinner and associated Teddy Bear Tricycle race. The reason I'm boring you
with this is because I know there are many RC types who could give advice
towards next year's project....
About the race. About five years ago my mom gave my son and my nephew
identical musical Teddy Bears, on plastic battery operated trikes. Of
course, they drag raced them in the hallway, and ours smoked theirs right
out of the box.
The following year, we stuffed a huge battery up into the body of ours and
challenged them to a repeat race. We really killed them.
In subsequent years, motors have been swapped, our trike's been chopped,
and our bear wore leathers instead of the santa suit. So a sanctioning body
(NBRA) was set up, and this year's rules were hashed out. Thier effort was
rocket powered by three CO2 cartridges (traction being a big issue), and
ours went full out radio controlled with the back end out of a carpet
racing car, and (VW CONTENT) Passat wiper linkage parts for front fork
movement. Yeah, we beat them again. With enough time to do a victory donut
at the end of the track. This is what it comes to in the winter, sad to
say. We've been beaten once, and it will NOT happen again.
So, next year is "unlimited class". The rules are simple: it has to fit
into a beer case, and the bear must be included (though ours is already
partially unstuffed for weight and centre of gravity reasons). I'm guessing
the engines from the RC aircraft trainers will be the mill of choice for
both bears next year, (the track will be in the woodshed) The question is,
does anyone have experience with, ummm, attack options for RC? Yeah, I'm
serious, some lightweight ordnance to take them out....Anyway, suggestions
for chassis design and so on would also be appreciated. I know I can count
on you guys...
Cathy
NBRA Champion, four out of five years....LOL
