OT: Final Job offer from company #1

Well the offer was decent but not quite what I thought it would be.
There's an annual bonus and the car allowance puts me close to what I
thought it should be.

$49k base pay, $500 a month car allowance, (plus .20 on the mile), and
a very generous but not to be guessed at bonus every March. I am
thinking probably less than 10%.

So that's in the neighborhood of $59k in pay, full medical and dental,
all the stuff I mentioned before, laptop, cell, 2nd line, one time
office/copier allowance. ALSO they are putting me OUTSIDE of the bay
area in comparable areas to where I live now in cost of living. They
are looking at 2 to 2.5 hours outside of SF. American Express card...
daily per Diem.

Also they are going to pay ALL of the costs to get to SF, give me 4-6
months of training and LOTS of house hunting time. The 4-6 month
training period will be mostly in PA but they are going to pair me up
with someone in Richmond Va so I can be close to home. They don't
expect me to move to Cali before June.

The job with the German company ;) Trumpf is the name I believe.
They were offering 42-46 base in Akron, with guaranteed 10 hours a
week overtime. Intel was offering in the LOW 40's but they were
offering me 16-18g's to relocate to NM.

Trumpf would fly me to Stuttgart (spelling?) 4-6 weeks a year. That's
a helluva perk. :)

Hmm decisions decisions. I have a few days to answer the formal offer
that the first company made. I know that unlike the other two they
have never laid anyone off that wasn't a dirtbag, and I really really
like this company. They do salary reviews every 6 months and I get
evals during that time too. So I don't think I will stay at that pay
level for long. I get to work independently and I like the type of
work.

I don't think I am ready to sign off the severance package just yet.
That's alot of money to give up for a company that isn't starting me
as high as I originally thought, however it is a very good company.

I wish the Navy would shit or get off the pot.

I am heading towards NC. My best friend down there is in the
hospital--they think it may be spinal mendangitus. (spell) He's not
contageous. I already spoke to the doc. There are two variations...
one that passes on the bacteria and the other you can only get a cold
from. Doesn't make sense to me... but then again I am not a doctor.
