Need to look up a VW engine code?

It's Sun Diagnostic, so can find other makes also.

I was trying to find an engine block code AAN that should be a 1.7 ltr.
To no avail though, closest is a AAM 1.8 ltr. Anyone know of a European
AAN that's a 1.7 ltr (it's stamped on the block 1.7) from a Passat no
less? Early to mid '90's? Were 1.7's factory bored to 1.8's by the
factory by chance?
