The kind of folks I work with...
Smoked != fire when it comes to airbags. A smoke-like cloud that smells
terrible is created after an airbag deploys. It is the result of the
chemical reaction that inflates the airbag.
Odd how you are expected to turn on the hazard lights. I put the onus of
turning on the hazard lights on the car, not the driver. If the car has
airbags it is modern enough and has enough technology to turn on the hazards
after an impact and unlock the doors as well.

i stopped to render aid, the smoke worried me. she
was sitting there going through cards, i assume her
lawyer's or the insurance companies. the other lady
said the sitting lady ran the red light. neither one
turned their hazzards on, which for me was the first
step after seeing the accident, and parking and
getting out. the neon's window had popped out, that
was cute, that's how i could see the airbag smoking.
