This will work as long as the threads are visible and you apply loctite to
the actual threads.  Are the threads visible after assembly?

I have used red loctite and don't remember it setting up _that_ quickly.
Based on strength, loctite comes in purple, blue, red and green.  Green
being the strongest(torch to remove).

How about Loctite 209 for already assembled parts? You could torque it
to the right spec and then dab on the stuff and it wicks into the threads.
