Clutch cable adjustment

OK, for the manual clutch cable, the bentley says turn counter-clockwise to adjust slack.  I did this and now my clutch catches way at the top.  I want it to catch near bottom.

So, my question is, to tighten the cable, should there be more threads showing on it, or less?  Maybe I screwed up my directions, but based on the bentley less is tighter, just wanna be sure Bentley is right and I am screwing up.
