For me it was quick & easy to add the brakes to the existing trailing arm
on the '78 - but I wanted A3 calipers mounted right side up.

BTW, I have a 16V rear axle (trailing arm assembly) sans stubs, etc if
anyone wants it. Has the 24mm 16V swaybar, but you'll need to replace the
brake lines most likely.
