Got jacked

I had a neighbor back when who drove a nice Impala.  Late 60s model.  350, Two speed slip 'n' slide power glide tranny.... a blast to drive.  Anyway, he came out of a restuarant one day to find two cops arresting some guy next to his car with his speakers on the ground.  The cops said they had been accross the street and watched the guy open the door and start removing them.  They asked my nieghbor why he didn't lock the doors.  His reply:  I'd rather lose two cheap speakers than lose two cheap speakers and have to replace the window.
 
I know it doesn't help your situtaion, but it came to mind when reading your post and thought I'd pass it along.
 
I, too, have felt your pain though.  I came out one morning years (decades?) ago and found someone had broken my pass. window to steal my "boombox" (all I had in the car was AM).  Window cost?  I don't know, my grandparents paid for the repair.  Boombox worth: who cares, it was a POS with a broken antenna that I had had for years.  Lesson learned: Don't leave anything in sight where some low life who needs money might want to destroy your car to get to it.  Even change in the ashtray.  Check the "Hey Crackhead" thread for that one...
