Sorry guys, I just got word from the owner that since I was the first to
reply, and that I had the right idea about items to trade for it, he'll
let it go to me if I'm interested.  Now who said that staying up till
4:30 am wasn't productive!  :D   Thanks for the heads up Tosha!

While there is quite a bit of rust - more than I was expecting, and I
have no idea what the underside looks like, it looks to be quite
restorable.  Here's where it fits into the newly revised Scirocco plan:

75 - (you purists will be happy) will be a complete unmolested stock
restoration, I mean EVERYTHING stock...  (I can hear Eric S. cheering
from here...  :D)

80 S - Track car (it's solid, but pretty rough around the edges, so I
believe it's a good candidate for track/autocross duty)  I plan to use a
bolt in roll bar (not a cage), so the car could be returned back to
street duty in the future.

81 S - Winter beater/Tow vehicle - this is all this car will EVER be -
it's beat beyond help, had it up on a hoist this week and man is she
ever rotting underneath...  :(  Hopefully get 1 or two more winters out
of it though.

This 77 - Daily driver, with some mods.  I want a quick, solid, good
looking Scirocco for everyday use (NO winter driving - I promise!).
Paint color will probably be the Platinum Grey on new VWs.  I can't
stand that brown color, yuk...  Eventually will receive a forced
induction powerplant, but nothing crazy - maybe somewhere around
200hp...

Mark. - with tongue hanging out, and eyes glazed over...  :D
      - I think I should change my "handle" to Mk1Mk
