2.0l block

DId that last one send? The last thing I typed was 1.8 t, and it went blank.
I didn't get the word transplant finished...

Anyway, I think the next one will be a 1.8 16V block, so we'll see how that
goes. Anyway, I like the current build, it was a compromise between street
and track for us, so it has to E test and all that. When it turns 20 (no e
test) I may beef up the cams and get some headers. I don't have enough
experience driving other builds to say which head would be better, and if I
was doing a fast street car on a limited budget, it'd be a 2L longblock with
just cams and exhaust, and then the rest of the money would go into
suspension and the tranny, light flywheel, gearing, LSD and such. I'd say
the tranny woke up the car as much as anything, but that doesn't translate
into dyno numbers.

But as for the head? Mine got done by the auto shop at school (new valves,
springs, cams and so on) , so there was only so much they could do. But the
price was right. I'm sure a P&P, and for that matter playing with the
bottom end would bump the power up (well, I know it does) but that's back to
bang for the buck again. And it depends on your goals too.

I've thought of Motronic, and from what I've been told, it has good and bad
points. And then there are the standalone guys who claim wonderful things.
I'm sure this is a piece of the puzzle that could be improved. But for now
I'm sidetracked by that little green car. It needs something more
enthusaistic than the current 1.6.

There, was that vague enough? Gotta go to work...

Cathy
