2.0l block



The original question was whether to P&P a 1.8 or 2.0.  IMHO I believe
that the end result will be similar however; the 2.0 head affords the
machinist more metal to work with.  
As far as the increase HP of the stock 1.8 head; I was using the lower
number referenced in Raven's book.  If I do not have 'estimate' of the
gains I cannot justify the investment in the upgrade.  I have to weigh
the cost/benefit.  I am choosing the upgrades with the biggest bang for
the buck and I do realize that you reach a point of diminishing returns.
The last few HP come at an extremely high price.

Seriously, I always have issues with saying this or that will add x hp, 
especially something like a head. It's part of the puzzle, the rest
being 
intake, cams, exhaust, and so on, adding just one isn't going to net you
the 
same as if you add that same thing after all the other things have been 
done. I'm making decent power on a 1.8 head (133 at the wheels, with the
2L 
head it made 112, which is about right for the rated 130ish at the
engine), 
so it's certainly not a bad option. But I added all that other good
stuff 
too.
