90A Alternator noise questions

I've had poor luck with the tensioner pulley squealing...first time I
thought it was the alternator making the noise, but it turned out to be
the timing belt tensionor (well, the alternator was making some noise
too).

Subject: 90A Alternator noise questions

I had a used 90A alternator for my Scirocco lying around, so I hooked it
up
and boy did it squeal like a PIG!

I just figured the bearings were all rusted-out and ready to give-in,
so I
ordered a new 90A alternator (remanufactured in Germany by BOSCH).

Just came in the mail today, so I hooked it up and...

IT SQUEALS LIKE A F**KIN PIG!

What in tarnation going on here? Are these units inherently loud for
some
reason?

Anybody got the scoop on these noise makers?

Thanks in advance!
