Tricks for valve retainer keepers?

The only compressors I've seen are the $14.99 ones at the local store.
With a little bending of the arms to match the contour of the cam
support casting, it works fine for compressing the spring, but it leaves
near-ZERO room to put the keepers back on during reassembly.

Any links/info on better valve spring compressors are welcome...
