shim kit on a turbo 16v

Derrick, actually, there's more stress on third and fourth than there is on 1st and 2nd. Don't think of it in terms of gear speed, think in terms of load. Kevin Black has had trouble with third gear self-destructing on several transmissions, but 1st and 2nd seem to survive, and he's pushing around 400 to the wheels. Remember, the gears are ALWAYS meshed together, so the only shock is the synchros locking the gears to the shaft (which I've NEVER heard of breaking a gear from a shaft, although possible.) When you're in third and fourth, there's much more load on the meshed gears.

> because 3rd gear its MUCH less if a shock on the tranny internals.
