16V Springs on a MK1 Conversion?

Hi all,
I've got a set of stock springs from an 86 16V Scirocco laying around and was wondering if they can be used on and/or will fit an 81 Scirocco (MK1) that sports a 1.8l 16V.
Do they match up at all?

Anyone have any experience with this?

And If so, do they provide the appropraite height of a lowered spring set or do they ride too tall?
Or should I just get out my wallet & call the Potterman? How are the these stock springs different form the ones they sell?
