did someone say automatic?
The automatics suck big time. I had an 80 Rabbit with automatic. I loved
the car, but hated that tranny. I could never keep a starter working for
more than a year or so, they seem to burn them real fast. What is worse is
trying to replace that thing. It is in the worst place in the back side of
the tranny.
I wouldn't make the swap. NO WAY IN HMMMM.... I don't use those kids of
words, but you get the idea that I didn't like it much.

Look at it carefully and you will see, above the passenger side axle flange
directly under the exhaust manifold.
