Second try (mozilla stopped responding as I finished writhing this the first time)
I went to see that Rocco today and I had to cringe.
  Aside from cringing: Its a '84 8v.
Back to cringing: First thing I noticed is the driver side Window <http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/142779/Window1sml.JPG>, lock, and panel <http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/142779/window_lockSML.JPG>. This is Oregon; it rains here, almost as much as Seattle (sometimes). The driver seat is moist, and the back seat has water <http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/142779/waterSML.JPG>. Looks like the person responsible for the window decided he wanted this <http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/142779/centerDashSML.JPG>. And a couple little things are missing. Such as the spinning knob for the windows.
As a plus it has a moon roof, and power side mirrors. And there are studded tires in back, possibly with rims. The current rims are golden and look "basically" like these but older, and golden, and the spokes crossed each other.
Overall this looks stock, not entirely sure what to look for that might be non stock, but the dash, and gauges look like pictures I have seen.
Another thing, is there supposed to be metal showing behind the headlights <http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/142779/FrontSML.JPG>?
Some info that I got off the VIN:
A 2dr. deluxe made in Germany, at the Onasabruck factory, in 1984.
And "lowest output gasoline engine", not sure what it means.
I guess I wont be able to use this as daily driver until I get all (or at least most of) that fixed, so instead of trading the tempo, I'll try selling or parting the '78 Lincoln I've been tinkering with. I doubt any of you would want it, but if so give me a holler
Oh, ya, until I figure out what the name of the color this is (the same one on at least 1/5 of all cars out there), we are calling it Milktoast.

Today my mom and brother saw a scirocco (mk2 or 16v) for $500 at a small corner lot. If it checks out we plan on trading our '92 ford tempo (thank god) for it. The blue book value for the ford is $990. Before we even take it to a mechanic to look over what should I look for?

I should have more information tomorrow such as year, mileage, and ... what else should I find out?

As you can tell I have very little under the hood knowledge, and I won't be able to tinker with any new car as it will have to be my daily driver.
