Yes the barbed fitting is the oil drain. A high temp rated rubber hose
routes the oil from this
fitting down to a modified K03 oil drain pipe.
It is a water cooled turbo. The turbo just has some 14mm threaded holes to
which you can attach
banjo bolts. You can just barely see the smaller barbed coolant banjo bolt
fitting in 09.

Sounds like you're thinking about a blowoff valve.
The wastegate just bypasses the exhaust around the turbine straight into the
exhaust system. Exhaust
that doesn't go thru the turbine can't help to make boost! Some people
apparently vent the wastegate
straight to atmosphere, but it's just unmuffled exhaust. So it's loud (and
how much attention do you
really need in a fast car?)
A blowoff valve or bypass valve is in the intake. When you close the
throttle the turbo is pumping
for all it's worth, but with no flow it goes into the surge region of the
compressor map. Not good,
and at high boost pressures, like Shocky's capable of, this can damage the
turbo. The blowoff valve
vents this dead headed pressure to atmosphere. A bypass valve vents it back
to the turbo inlet.
Shocky currently has a stock AWP bypass valve, but the turbo makes a most
interesting chirping noise
when you close the throttle that we suspect isn't good. He's going to get a
much bigger flow blowoff
valve in the future just to make sure the turbo lives!

Yep! Shocky's gone :^(
The truck driver was super nice and lowered the ramps that the Ford GT was
on so I could get a
better look! Not much to see underneeth, just a big old flat bottom.
Nice guy! Shocky was in good hands!
