Exhaust heat shield question



I'd be parking mine if it got up to 140C oil temp, not that it's a bad 
thing, I'm sure the oil can take it, it's just much hotter than mine usually 
runs, it's always been just above 100C, (to a max of 120 or so if the revs 
are high) so if it ventured that high, I'd think it was up to something. 
Which it usually is.
Now Brian, did that rubber "hat" over the bottom of the shift mechanism get 
melted at all? I figure that's gonna be on of the first indicators that I 
should have reinstalled the shield.
